Carole was born in London and spent her childhood in Yorkshire. She studied at York College of Art and Maidstone College of Art gaining her Intermediate and National Diploma of Design. She lived in Greenwich until 2004 when she moved to Deal.

Since qualifying Carole has held several part-time teaching posts including lecturing in design and drawing at Maidstone College of Art for 12 years. Latterly she was a 6th Form Co-ordinator in a secondary school in Woolwich.

In 1967 she was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists and has subsequently been made a senior member of the society. She has been a regular member of the Council and serves on the Selection and Hanging Committees. From 1998-2002 she served as Honorary Secretary for the RBA Council. In 2007 she was made a Trustee of the RBA.

Carole is a figurative painter who produces work in oil and acrylic on canvas. Her interest in the elements are continued in her paintings since moving to the seaside where she has enjoyed observing how people relax by the sea. This influence in her work is also shown by painting the reflected light on the carp pond in her garden as well as depicting the motions of the water and the patterns that the fish make. The still lives that Carole paints explore the relationship of shapes that objects make together as well as their colour and texture.

She has a strong interest in encouraging young artists and has been involved with the selection of work for the RBA National Students Exhibition in partnership with the Astor College for Arts in Dover which is held during the annual RBA Exhibition. In 2006 she was put in charge of RBA Patrons and instigated the ̛̛de Laszlo Association̛̛ which is aimed at Artists and Patrons being able to meet each other informally.

Having spent most of her childhood in Yorkshire she returns there regularly to Wensleydale and Swaledale to walk and observe the rugged countryside. Here she is interested in how the sky influences the change of atmosphere and mood of the countryside. She has a studio in her garden where she paints and exhibits her work.

Exhibitions

She has exhibited regularly at the RBA where she has been awarded several prizes which include The Windsor and Newton prize and has participated in other mixed exhibitions which include Travelling Exhibitions to South Africa, Women Artists in Britain and Twin Town Exhibitions of Greewich/Maribor. She has also exhibited at Woodlands Gallery, Greenwich Theatre, Blackheath Gallery, Seen Gallery, Seattle, RBA at Henley, Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and The Menier Chocolate Factory. She has had two successful one man exhibitions with Seen Gallery and has undertaken various commissions which include portraiture, graphical illustration and murals.
