Kirsten van Schreven is a printmaker with a Master’s Degree in Fine Art Printmaking from Chelsea School of Art.
For many years she worked globally in pre-production and design in both the feature film and computer games industry. She has exhibited widely, including at The Royal Academy of Arts, Cadaques Mini-Print Internacionale, Bankside Gallery, The Discerning Eye, The Chianciano Biennale, The Wells Art Contemporary Awards, Flowers East and Goldsmiths Gallery. She has exhibited regularly at the Mall Galleries with various societies such as the New English Art Club, The Royal Society of Marine Artists, The Pastel Society, the Society of Women Artists and of course, the Royal Society of British Artists, being elected a member of the latter in 2022. Her work was selected by Norman Ackroyd for his Original Print Show at Zillah Bell Gallery in 2016.
Her work is mainly inspired by skeletal, partially built and abandoned structures. The constructions are man-made with unusual purposes – pieces of a previous time and odd historical remnants of war, industry and navigation. These are eerie, isolated structures, strong but fragile in appearance, that emerge from and disappear into the landscape. She works mostly in the mediums of drypoint etching and monotype and has studios in both East Sussex and South West France.
